Joseph Lawthers, an entrepreneur and sales professional based in the Greater Philadelphia area. What may seem like a life filled with funnels, CRMs and pipelines, is actually only the surface. What you're able to see once you get past all the spreadsheets, is where the real spoils of life lie.
I got my professional start in the trades, building on my original lawn care company I started when I was only 12. Just three months into my apprenticeship at a luxury boutique cabinet shop, I was promoted to carpenter after demonstrating an exceptional aptitude for meticulous, detail-driven work. I quickly realized that I was capable of much more, so I spent the remainder of my waking hours studying progressive building practices. That turned into Philos Property Solutions, a general contracting and remodeling company in Kennett Square, PA that I grew past $1M in annual revenue. What started out as me performing every trade, turned into a team of the most exceptional contractors following my lead
Today, I help small and mid-sized companies optimize how they pay their vendors. Most companies are cutting checks, chasing approvals, and spending unnecessary hours on manual vendor payments. I show them how to replace their current operation with advanced payment solutions that cut costs, save time, and turn their accounts payable into a revenue stream. All without having to implement or change their current ERP. The work itself hasn't really changed from what I've always done: build relationships, solve problems, and show up.
Outside of work, I'm a father to five kids, which keeps life loud and full in the best way. I'm in the gym several days a week, picked up distance running last year, and I spend whatever free time I can find on trails or walking through art museums. I've always been drawn to things that require discipline, whether that's a long run, a sales pipeline, or raising children.
I studied at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. I didn't finish my degree, but between two years of business school and half a decade of actually running businesses, I've gotten the education one way or another.
